The moment we’ve all been waiting has finally arrived and its name is SuperSpeed USB 3.0.
At IDF the Intel USB pavilion breaths SuperSpeed through all its pores and the units are wearing various signatures. There are some rough models that won’t be seeing the light of day anytime soon but also there are a few devices that we can’t wait to see on the market. Among these latter we include the controller chips from Fujitsu and NEC.
The path paved with SSD transfers is also very attractive but the star of the floor is Point Grey’s 1080p prototype HD camera. Of course this baby also rolls on the new USB 3.0 technology but unfortunately the product will only be final in a couple of months.
The 3.0 futures sounds perfect because this new technology is 10x faster than its predecessor, it’s 100% backwards-compatible and is using considerably less resources.
