Only a few people know about IBM’s Lotus Symphony – OpenOffice.org and that’s not good at all. This cross-platform office suite is a viable adversary for the Microsoft Office, being based on the Open Document format.
Symphony features fewer tools than the above mentioned platforms but it does a pretty good job handling presentation tasks, word processing and spreadsheet.
This new release allows you to open files that were initially created with Microsoft Office 2007. Another great thing about Lotus is that it offers a very useful tabbed interface just like a browser.
The entire suite (200Mb) is already available on the official IBM website and it’s fully compatible with Windows, Linux and Mac.
