If you want to build 3D models for free than you should definitely check out the new SketchUp application from Google. The 7.1 build has just arrived boasting with KMZ file imports support. Is case you didn’t know, KMZ is the common standard for packaging of 3D models together with their GPS location data.
But that’s not all. The new features also include the ability to use Google Streetmap images in models plotted with GPS data and also improved rendering for large models.
The basic version is free for download but if you’re willing to step in the Pro zone you should know that this will cost you no less than $500 per license and will work only on Mac OS X 10.4+ or Windows XP / Vista.
