There are tens of apps that will simply notify you whenever there’s a new mail in your inbox. We have Gmail Notifier Plus, Gmail Notifier, Gmail Assistant and the list goes on and on. They all drive in the same circle but the monotony was broken today by a new app: Scott’s Gmail Alert (SGA).

Why is it so great? Because it can handle up to five different Gmail accounts checking up for messages, setting the colors, customizing the fonts and creating special alerts for special contacts. Also it’s 100% Aero Glass friendly on Windows Vista and 7. Now you will be able to compose quick messages by simply right-clicking the SGA icon (attachments included).

As if that wasn’t enough, the app also manages Google Calendar and Google News.

The most amazing thing of all is that Scott’s Gmail Alert is free and it’s fully compatible with Windows XP, Vista and 7.

If you’re interested in using a single application for several internet activities then Mozilla SeaMonkey is what you should focus your attention on because under a single roof it hosts an HTML editor, a IRC client, an email application and a web browser.

This weekend the SeaMonkey 2.0 Release Candidate 1 was presented to the gen pop so… let’s see what’s new about it.

Back in the old days we used Firefox for web browsing and Thunderbird as an email client but now SeaMonkey offers all this in an internet suite. Compared to the Beta version released this summer, the RC1 build is much more stable and is bringing a large number of bug fixes. Also, it has a Thunderbird-style tabbed mail client and can very easily delete/cut bookmarks from the bookmark search view and reopen closed browser windows.

This open source cross-platform application is Windows, Linux and Mac friendly and all you need to do is to enter the official website and download your own copy.

If you’re familiar with drop.io’s service then you should know that the company provided up until now free storage as unlimited blocks of 100MB while their premium pack offered much more than that.

The relationship with Yahoo!Mail is still covered in secrets for the time being because no one knows what it will really happen but there are two possibilities: either the Y! attachments will be limited to 100MB or the integration between Y!Mail and drop.io will become real.

We’ll keep you posted with more information as soon as possible!

GPush sends a notification on your iPhone whenever you receive a new Gmail message.

iPhone doesn’t offer official support for Gmail push notifications but if you really need them you can get them for only 99 cents thanks to the new GPush application.

In exchange for your money, the app will let you know when you receive new Gmail messages.

The setup process is very simple requiring only Gmail login (using SSL for secure login) and once you’re in you can personalize your combination of pop-ups, badge and sounds.

In order to read you new mail you don’t have to open the app. All you need to do is to check Gmail or Apple Mail web interface just like always.
